Meet Ollie

Meet Oliver Corrie:

Oliver (our more affectionately known as Ollie Bug) is a vibrant 3 year-old boy who has managed to overcome a hard start in life and show is inner strength.

When he was born, a number of tests missed the fact that Ollie had CF. His father, Jason, is a sufferer, so his parents were understandably concerned. Ollie’s health began to deteriorate, weighing in at just 7.5kg at 13 months of age.

“Paediatricians and GPs told me I was over reacting, but he would vomit whole foods as soon as he woke, when he was in bed, in the bath … constantly!” says Ollie’s mum, Megan.

It wasn’t until January 2010 that Ollie was diagnosed with CF. Since then he has been able to receive the proper treatment, improve his health and finally gain some crucial kilos.

He still struggles to keep down too much food and must take a lot of dietary shakes, supplements and tablets. As well as this, Ollie has frequent physio sessions and takes nebulised medications daily.

Despite the hardships, Ollie and his family remain positive. They work to maintain Ollie’s busy routine and stay on top of the usual antics from a toddler.

Ollie is an active little boy, participating in swimming and plays soccer. While the sport is fun, Ollie also must maintain a high level of physical activity to keep his lungs as healthy as possible, for as long as possible.

Ollie and his family want to share their story with you to help raise awareness for CFQ and the vital work they do for CF sufferers and their loved ones.

“With increased awareness, these kids can lead lives that promote prolonged health and improved quality of life. CF is an isolating condition and it doesn’t need to be that way,” says Megan.
